Afeição (affection)

Zain Syed in Pinheiros - São Paulo, Brazil

If there was one word I could choose to describe my experience with the people and culture of Brazil it would be: AFEIÇÃO (AFFECTION) 💖 So much heart in their expression, so much joy in their smile, and so much warmth in their touch. Maybe I was just a lucky visitor to receive such loving kindness from each person in almost every interaction I don’t know...⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
It was my second visit and twice as long as my first, but once again I didn’t have any bad experiences. I didn’t get sick, I didn’t lose anything, I never felt tricked or scammed by anyone. I didn’t feel the need to take my vitamins and instead felt well nourished and happy just with the company I kept. Maybe the Brazilians like to welcome tourists because there aren’t so many there, or maybe they are also so affectionate with each other equally. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

I know the country’s political climate is bad if not worse than currently in the USA, and I am aware of their severe poverty and extreme violence in the favelas. I’m sure it may all seem different if I ever lived there, but when I think about the days and weeks I spent traveling in each city, state, town and island it brings a smile to my face and tenderness in my heart to remember all the good times. ⁣⁣⁣Obrigado Brasil! 💚🇧🇷🙏🏽✨ ⁣Thank you Brazil!⁣⁣⁣

Life moves too fast sometimes that it’s hard for me to take the time to reflect and jot down all the places and spaces I visited. So I’m taking a moment to share on the blog a way for me to document, collect and share my memories. I wish I could do that with every place I have visited. In the digital age Instagram has become a way to leave a trail of my footsteps across the globe. You can follow my travel posts here: #yogizaintravels 💫⁣⁣⁣
