I look forward to being a moderator for the next episode of: Yoga Is Dead - The Afterlife

I have taken keen interest in listening to the Yoga Is Dead podcast for it’s thought provoking content as it pertains to yoga industry and yoga culture at large.

Jesal Parikh and Tejal Patel - hosts of Yoga Is Dead podcast

The hosts of the podcasts, Jesal and Tejal, deliver compelling conversations bringing up issues and problems in yoga land that aren’t often talked about so openly.

In their third episode titled Gurus Killed Yoga, they addresses the relationship between teacher and student. They list and investigate accounts of high profile gurus who have either misused or abused their power and caused harm to students and hurt communities.

For the next installment of The Afterlife , I hope to learn as much as an attendee as a moderator.  I hope to ask questions and create a dialogue for critical thinking: What is a guru? Are they someone super human? Is the idea of a teacher-student relationship set to different values in the east and the west?  How can we we seek guidance from senior teachers and mentors, or supervision of gurus, yet still hold them accountable when power is abused or harm is done?

Please join me for this next episode of Yoga Is Dead - The Afterlife as we dive deeper into a conversation of how gurus killed yoga.
